What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Sony TA-F444ES amplifier

ES-Series Integrated Amplifier

Specially designed for the demands of digital audio

Digital audio places stringent demands on the rest of a stereo system. That's why Sony created the TA-F444ES - it matches digital audio's impressive performance, in terms of dynamic range, stereo separation, and low noise and distortion. Many features contribute to this superior performance. Audio Current Transfer (ACT) uses current amplification to reduce crosstalk and improve separation. High dynamic headroom improves dynamic range. Sony's Legato Linear design eliminates switching and crossover distortion. A Linear Gain volume control assures identical performance at all listening levels. These features all contribute to the amp's outstanding performance with digital sources.

The best way to demonstrate the terrific performance of the TA-F444ES is to put it through a workout with a Sony CD player. Choose a Compact Disc that features wide dynamic range and low noise. Play the amp very loud first. Let the customer experience the dynamics - be sure he hears both very loud and very soft passages. During a quiet passage, point out the lack of noise. Then turn the volume down to a quieter level. Explain how the performance remains outstanding; i.e. separation, noise and dynamic characteristics are all still superb. Let the customer enjoy the "feel" of the amplifier, and experience its performance on his own.

Features:

Record output selector - permits the user to listen to one source while recording another

Defeatable bass boost - provides additional bass response for speaker which require it

Tone defeat switch - eliminates the tone control circuitry from the audio signal path

Two tape monitor loops - with tape dubbing in both directions

Soft touch controls - for function selection makes switching to another signal source easy and elegant. LEDs indicated which source is in use

4 position speaker selector switch - A, B, A + B, Off

Front panel headphone jack

Oversized volume control knob

ACT "Audio Current Transfer" - uses current amplification to reduce internally generated distortion

Linear Gain Volume control - assures consistently outstanding performance at all volume levels

Legato Linear amplifier circuitry - eliminates switching and crossover distortion

Switchable subsonic filter - eliminates the effects of turntable rumble and other subsonic distortion

Consistent low impedance performance
