What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

Onkyo Icon Series P-80 pre amplifier

Icon Series P-80 Network Preamplifier

The Icon Series

Is not only a complete renewal of Onkyo’s previous hi-hi products, but also the culmination of Onkyo’s accumulated and continuously evolving sound creation technologies and was developed to become the icon of the Onkyo brand.

Quality is King, and Sublime Sound is The Decree

Thanks to patented DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry), the P-80 Network Preamplifier delivers a vivid yet smooth and comfortable sound from any music source. DIDRC is a discrete signal control circuit developed to make digital sound sources such as CDs and music streaming services sound as natural as analog records. This technology has been further refined and is used in the P-80’s the analog filter of the DAC and phono amplifier circuits.

Input Your Gear, Connect To Your Music

Hardwire your turntable, plug in your CD player, and stream your songs with ease thanks to the Onkyo P-80’s many connectivity options. With 3 pairs of RCA analog inputs, MM/MC phono, coax, optical, USB-A (Storage Playback) and headphone inputs, you have all the flexibility your music devices need to move you.

Onkyo Invests in Your Modern Lifestyle

Your carefully curated playlists play well with the Onkyo P-80 Network Preamplifier. Seamlessly hardwire or cast your content from any of the following built-in platforms: Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connectt, Amazon Music, Qplay, TuneIn, Works with AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready

From Onkyo Academy: The Benefits of a Preamplifier

A preamplifier receives the signal input from your device (music source), and applies tone controls to that signal. You have more control over your audio playback in terms of bass, treble, volume, and more. When Fidelity IQ (Auto Loudness function) is turned on, the system automatically provides optimal audio playback according to any volume in conjunction with the master volume (This function operates independently of Tone Control and can be used in conjunction with Tone Control / Parameters are generated for the viewing environment using the setup microphone during initial setup). This Fidelity IQ goes beyond correcting loudness characteristics. Onkyo’s sound quality engineers adjust the frequency response to provide the most emotional sound possible, regardless of the music genre. Select your source, tweak settings to your liking – which may vary depending on the speakers you listen through, the type of audio being played, the genre of music, etc. – and customize the experience accordingly.

Dirac Live For The  Discerning Listener

Onkyo builds world-class products for early adaptors and tech enthusiasts. It’s what sets us apart from the rest, and the P-80 Network Preamplifier is no exception to our commitment to impress. That’s why it comes with built-in Dirac Live Room Correction. With frequency response correction (500 Hz - 20 kHz / full version is option), multiple playback modes, and more, this highly sought feature will elevate your listening experience by taking your unique system and room setup into account.

Onkyo Icon Series M-80 power amplifier

Icon Series M-80 Power Amplifier

Refined Style You Can Feel

Just as your favorite music resonates on an emotional level, premium design is felt instinctively. Intuitively. The Onkyo Icon Series is meticulously designed for simplicity and balance, blending an elegant form factor with classic hi-fi details. Carefully selected materials and tactile buttons and knobs elevate the user experience to something greater than the sum of its parts.

Superior Sound Starts with Onkyo

Sophisticated circuitry, elevated design choices, and next-generation tech are weaved into every millimeter of Onkyo’s new Icon Series. Our dedicated engineers believe everyone deserves an exceptional listening experience with all the nuance, detail, and emotion that the artists or players intended. The content played through any of our Icon Series products isn’t just heard – it’s felt.

Powering The Music That Moves You

The M-80 uses a three-stage Inverted Darlington Amplifier. The three-stage Inverted Darlington Amplifier has a very low output impedance and drives speakers powerfully with a large current. Also, by keeping NFB (Negative Feedback) low, it is not affected by noise from the speaker. It offers a powerful yet highly resolving and informative sound. The M-80’s output stage transistors are in parallel configuration, which provides excellent instantaneous current supply capability, further enhancing the rise of sound and the sense of power. The driver stage of the M-80 amplifier uses DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry). Reducing beats generated signals(noise) in the ultra-high frequency band by DIDRC’s high slew rate designand helps produce the natural sound of an analog record.

Cutting Edge Compomentry for Captivating Playback
The M-80 housing consists of two aluminum side panels and a steel top panel. The three-piece construction of the housings increases rigidity and improves seismic resistance. Various vibrations are suppressed and sound quality is improved.

Create Your Perfect System

The M-80 has an output power of 130w(FTC, 8Ω, 20Hz - 20kHz, THD 1%, 2ch driven) / 200w(4Ω, 1kHz, THD 0.7%, 2ch driven) which allows it to powerfully drive large speakers and bring you dynamic acoustic information. For example, Klipsch Forte speakers paired with the P-80 and M-80 would maximize the dynamic and extended sound of the Forte.

From Onkyo Academy: The Benefits Of A Power Amplifier

A power amplifier receives the signal from your pre-amp and literally powers it into your speakers. Think of your pre-amp as a brain, and your power amplifier as the muscle. Separating your amplifiers into pre- and power gives you ultimate flexibility in audio playback. Since they are not affected by each other’s circuits, they can provide high-resolution sound quality through even cleaner signal transmission. Audiophiles are well-known to prefer specific power amps and the way they impact sound quality and coloration. The M-80 is a power amplifier that reproduces the full range of artists or players’ intentions in their music and drives you into a world of emotion.

Straight, Short Arm for Openness and Transparency in Sound

Accurately capturing the audio from the source is the imperative first step in delivering authentic, true, Hi-Fi sound. The flagship GT-5000 adopts a short, straight arm designed to deliver superior rigidity as well as balance of weight and mechanics which results in improved traceability. A rigid mechanism with simple construction means there is no need for an inside force canceler weight.

Customised Belt-drive for Stabilising Platter

The customised belt-drive mechanism of the GT-5000 minimises the influence of the motor cogging and excludes feedback control for an open and smooth sound. The original GT concept utilised the notion of internal mass to counter feedback control. This is built upon with the GT-5000 which negates feedback control through the belt-drive.

LUXMAN introduces the PD-191A, a premium turntable system designed to replace the long running PD-171 series.

Savor the endlessly rich warmth of a piece of music and that special sense of time flowing differently when you play a cherished analog recording. PD-191A is a superb player capable of delivering the excellence of vinyl recordings playback experiences. Our newly developed, original tonearm, with extremely high initial sensitivity, uses a knife-edge vertical bearing system to realize those sensitive movements that make up the finest nuances of a musical moment. Combining a silent and refined DC motor belt-drive system supported by a robust power supply; PD-191A offers a truly high-fidelity and emotional vinyl listening experience.

Newly developed, completely original tonearm - the PD-191A is our LTA-710 static balanced tonearm which employs knife-edge bearing technology for excellent initial movement sensitivity.

Brushless DC motor and high-capacity power supply - The drive motor is one fundamental component of a belt-drive analog player where powerful and stable platter rotation is of paramount importance. The PD-191A features an original, high-precision, high-torque, brushless DC motor supported by a float-mounted, highly stable and fully regulated large-capacity power transformer that has been upgraded to higher specifications for today’s favored high-mass platters.

A heavyweight, high-mass platter with a huge moment of inertia - The platter chosen for the PD-191A is a 35mm-thick, 5.2kg heavyweight disk, machined from a single, extremely thick aluminum billet, precisely diamond cut and finished to exact surfaces which beautifully reflect light.

Elegant, timeless LUXMAN industrial design, featuring a wood front-panel and low center-of-gravity chassis - Our selection and finishing of the external and structural materials that make up the finished product are highly important to us as we feel that the listener’s operation of an analog player should be a tactile and visually satisfying experience.
