What is stereo?

There are now two system of high fidelity, monophonic (monaural) and stereophonic. Monophonic is a system that starts from one microphone and is fed through a single high fidelity set. Stereophonic is a double system. Two separate microphones are placed at different sides of the orchestra and two different systems are used to keep the two signals or channels separated. Two separate speakers are used, placed on different sides of you room. Stereo is much like 3-D photography, two slightly different sound reach your ears giving you a new dimension in sound.

AVID model 103 loudspeakers

The most popular of the 100 line, the 103's are praised by our own Big Al. It's three-way air suspension bookshelf design employing a 10" woofer, a 4-1/2" midrange driver and a superb 1" dome tweeter. 3 drivers enable this unit to achieve extended bass and high frequency performance while ensuring excellent dispersion characteristics and stereo imaging over the entire frequency range. The 103 is a truly accurate loudspeaker that is capable of handling up to 150 watts of program material yet requires no more than 20 watts for most listening environments.
